Fire protection for Township of Arcadia
| Fire prevention works were carried out by DS&E on November 8th on the Goulburn River frontage behind the Arcadia township. DS&E crews from Mansfield, Wangaratta, Benalla and Shepparton carried out a controlled burn in the bush behind Arcadia. This work has reduced the amount of litter which has accumulated over many years in the area, thus making it safer for the residents of the town. This may have been the first time that a burn off to this extent has been carried out in this area near the town. |
As the fire danger period quickly approaches, residents are encouraged to clean up around their house and sheds and to dispose of any material that would become a fire hazard during the summer months.
