Second serious MVA closes Goulburn Valley Hwy at Arcadia again.
A section of the Goulburn Valley Hwy 1Km north of the start of The Freeway saw the second serious accident within two weeks. At 2151hrs on Tuesday December 22nd the Arcadia Fire Brigade along with Shepparton and Kialla Brigades were called to this incident on the highway. A car travelling north had side-swiped a semi-trailer going south which then collided with a B Double truck also going south, the B Double then demolished the guard rail on a chanel before hitting a tree. Neither of the truck drivers were injured but the sole occupant of the car was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital in a serious condition. |

The highway was closed while emergency services removed the vehicles and cleared the road and was re-opened for traffic at 0630 on Wednesday morning. This accident follows another in exactly the same location two weeks earlier when a driver was killed when his truck left the road and collided with a tree, then burst into flames destroying the truck and it’s load of food products.

A small monument where a truck driver was killed when he collided with a tree. In the background can be seen the emergency barrier across the chanel where the B Double came to rest following the recent accident.
