A very successful Market Day was held by the Arcadia Fire Brigade on Sunday 13th of November where over $2000 was raised. There were over thirty stall holders who set up to sell their wares. The members of the Brigade are raising funds to go towards the purchase of an Ultralite fire fighter and a shed in which to house the vehicle. Often the Arcadia Tanker is away on strike team duties which leaves our area without a CFA unit to combat fire in the area, also a heavy vehicle endorsed license is not required to drive this unit.
The Arcadia Ultralite would be similiar to this one. It is a Nissan Patrol 4 by 4 Cab Chasis, fitted with a Gaam Mark 70 pump & a Hatz Diesel engine & Quench Master SP301 Foam System.
It carries 550 Ltrs of water and has a 30 mtr by 20 mm light weight hose reel. It has storage for hoses, personal protective clothing, esky and some small equipment. On the front of the vehicle is fitted a 9000 kg winch and also has a duel battery system. It is a very versatile small fire fighting unit.
