The ERS (Emergency Reporting System) which has been used to alert Fire Brigades to a fire or incident requiring the attendance of the fire brigade became redundant on Sept 13 2004. People now reporting via the telephone a fire or incident requiring the attendance of the fire brigade will be diverted to Vic Fire at the Country Call Taking Centre at Ballarat, operators there will take the details etc and then alert the appropriate brigade / brigades to the emergency.

The bi-annual meeting was held today at the Community Centre, CFA Operations Officer Tony Owen conducted the election of office bearers and also gave a report on the situation of the CCT (country call taking) project. The present ERS system for elerting brigades will cease by the end of this year.

The Statewide EAS program incorporates the CCT project.
 

The following officers were appointed:
•Capt Richard Walker, 1st Lieut.
•Bernard Kennedy, 2nd Lieut.
•Ray McManus, 3rd Lieut. Shane Young,
•Comms Officer Fran Kennedy,
•Sec Laurie Noonan. 

At 0100 hrs on July18 2004 the brigade attended an MVA on the Hwy near Doyles Rd where a station wagon had run off the road and collided with some trees, two people were conveyed to hospital as a result of the accident.

The Murchison CFA Group has also had a change of office bearers, they now being: 
Group Officer David Weidenbach, 1st DGO Brian Burke, 2nd DGO Gordon Richards, 
3rd DGO Jon Crowley, 4th DGO Richard Walker, Comms Off Ann McNamara, Sec Graeme Reid.
