6/2/2005 23:35 Congratulations to Ross McPherson of Arcadia who was recently elected as the first Australian President of The International Newspaper Marketing Association. Ross, who is joint managing director of the McPherson Media Group, had been Vice President of INMA before being elected as it’s leader in Las Vegas on May 11. Ross will be heading the 75 year old Association, which has more than 1000 newspaper members from 67 countries. The organisation’s role is to generate ideas and discussion on marketing and strategic opportunities for newspapers and new media. Ross says, as one of the few independent media groups remaining in Australia, his family business has found INMA to be a particularly useful source of information in the two decades he has been a member. INMA is based in Dallas, Texas and the president’s term is for two years. Ross, his wife Dianne and their family live on part of the property that was originally owned by the Arcadia squatter James Miller and his son William, who settled in Arcadia in 1864. On the south end of the McPherson property near the river is an area where local school sports were held, and was also the playing field for the Arcadia Cricket Club in the 1940’s and 50’s where no doubt many great innings were played and talked about. |
